Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American journalist and photojournalist who has reported on wars and natural disasters for over 45 years, focuses on the suffering of those who live in these places. Curry was a reporter for the wars within Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry is a journalist anchorperson on television and reporter she was born 1956. Her most famous role was on Today, the National Broadcasting Co. morning news broadcasted program. Her reporting stood out for its coverage of humanitarian crisis that occurred in war-torn countries and natural disasters. Curry was born in Japan and was raised by a Japanese mother. Her father was an U.S. Navy sailor. Her mother was working with their father during Japan after World War II. Her father was in the military and her family had to move around often. Curry went to High School in Ashland Oregon. Following her graduation from the University of Oregon, Curry earned a bachelor of journalism degree in 1978. The diversity of her experiences and the experiences she had during her growing up probably influenced her way of communicating on global issues. Ashland was her final high school. Her journey to a successful career when she started her broadcasting career as an intern in KTVL Channel 10 in Medford Oregon. She later became the first woman news reporter in the station's history at the aged of just 22. Then, she was an anchor/reporter at KGW at Portland Oregon. The following year, she relocated to Los Angeles as a reporter for KCBS-TV. During the six years she worked for KCBS, she was awarded the two Emmy Awards.
